I was born near the QPR ground and was brought up just north of Oxford. I went to the local Roman Catholic Primary School and then on to the Roman Catholic Grammar School in Oxford. I worked for Post Office Telephones (now BT) and then set up my own business in 1980. I ran that until I joined Convergys Plc in 1999. I was working until 2010 at AEA Technology Plc at Harwell Campus just a couple of miles outside Didcot (Oxfordshire UK).
